Expand Expanding CloseThis week, Apple unveiled visionOS 26, and one of its standout features is spatial widgets: customizable, three-dimensional elements that users can pin to their surroundings and glance at while wearing an Apple Vision Pro.
And while they’re technically impressive and undeniably cool-looking (especially that wall-embedded ones), they might also be Apple’s first hint at what we could expect from a long-rumored smart home product.

Expand Expanding CloseWhile the Apple Vision Pro may offer a glimpse into Apple’s, well… vision for gesture-based spatial computing, it’s still an awkward fit for traditional gaming. Coming next week, that may change.
Expand Expanding CloseYesterday saw the latest episode in a Prosser versus Gurman battle over just how big a change we’ll see in the look and feel of the user interface in iOS 19.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says he’s seen evidence of a change almost as notable as that of iOS 7 back in 2013. Jon Prosser, on the other hand, says we should expect something far less dramatic …
Expand Expanding CloseThere’s no shortage of discourse surrounding Apple Vision Pro. Is it a flop? The future? Something in-between? Most of the narratives have little to do with actually using the device, though. After almost a year of balking at Vision Pro’s price tag, I finally gave in and bought one recently, and want to share about three specific experiences I’ve had in visionOS that have brought me delight.
Expand Expanding CloseWhile we aren’t getting a new Apple Vision Pro model in 2025 as some may have hoped, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is planning a ‘feature-packed release’ for visionOS 3 this year at WWDC.
Expand Expanding CloseApple on Monday released the second beta of visionOS 2.4 to developers. Expand Expanding CloseTwo weeks after releasing visionOS 2 to the public, Apple is now rolling out visionOS 2.0.1. The update doesn’t add any new features, but it does bring multiple bug fixes that should make the device run more stable.
Expand Expanding CloseIt has been an unprecedented year for Apple software. The company is supporting more platforms and devices than ever, and the number of new features shipped and soon-to-arrive is impressive. So how is all of that going? Here’s a report card-type look at the good, bad, and ugly with Apple’s 2024 software.

Expand Expanding CloseThe European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) antitrust legislation came into effect earlier this year and has already forced Apple to make some deep changes to the App Store, including allowing developers to offer alternative payment options in their apps. As Apple Vision Pro is coming to Europe, Apple has now confirmed that alternative payment options will also be available on the visionOS App Store.

Expand Expanding CloseThe Apple Vision Pro Developer Strap is Thunderbolt capable and is not strictly a USB 2.0 device. Although the Fast Ethernet connection established when connecting to a Mac Virtual Display via USB-C uses USB 2.0, the Developer Strap doesn’t have to be forever limited to that speed. It may just be a matter of time before Apple unlocks additional capability and higher throughput via a visionOS software update.
