Satechi launches OnTheGo 3-in-1 charger with compact design & Qi2 support [Video]

I was lucky enough to get an early look and hands-on experience with Satechi’s new OntheGo line at CES this year, and I was immediately impressed. Satechi managed to bridge the gap between tech enthusiasts like myself, who appreciate cutting-edge features like Qi2 and MagSafe charging, and everyday users, thanks to their thoughtful material choices and versatile color palette. Here’s everything you need to know!

This ultra-thin Qi2 charger belongs in any travel pack [Hands-on]

With the expected release of the iPhone 17 Air later this year and the recent release of the S25 Edge from Samsung, it looks like the theme of 2025 is all about thinness. Companies are doing all they can to flex their design and physics-defying muscles to show off just how thin they can make products without sacrificing significant features. Now, accessories companies are getting in on the fun, and Kuxiu’s new X41Q charger is impressively thin while staying efficient and powerful. Here is what you need to know!

This Qi2 power bank might be a glimpse at the future of smartphone battery tech

Have you ever purchased a 5,000mAh Magsafe battery bank thinking, “This should fully charge my iPhone or even more because my iPhone battery is smaller”? But then, with real-world use, you only get 50% to 80% charge? This has happened to me on a few occasions. While the mAh measurement of those battery banks is true, Lithium-ion battery tech tends to lose energy through heat, wireless charging inefficiencies, and voltage conversion. But solid state battery tech is here to fix that, and Kuxiu’s S2 has shown me the future.

Robotic smart screen? Apple already sells that, and it’s flying under the radar

Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro with DockKit

Apple is reportedly developing a new smart home product, a “pricey tabletop home device that combines an iPad-like display with a robotic limb.” The display would use robotics to swivel around and follow your movement. This all sounds a bit over-engineered and overpriced. It also sounds an awful lot like another product that Apple already sells today, powered by an underused iOS 17 feature: DockKit.

Shooting video on iPhone? Here’s the best gear for making pro-level content

How to shoot cinematic iPhone 14 video

The iPhone is not only the most used camera in the world, it’s also a tremendous device for shooting video. You can use it to shoot a short film, music video, an Apple event—or, of course, YouTube videos.

While an iPhone on its own can be sufficient for YouTubers and filmmakers, the device is at its best when paired with key video gear and accessories built for making pro-level content.

Here’s some of the best gear for shooting video on your iPhone.

Add utility to your iPhone with these unique and functional accessories

It seems as if every day, thousands more iPhone accessories hit the market from USB-C hubs to cases to MagSafe battery banks and more. When I look for new accessories, they have to be one of two things: have a unique aesthetic or be extremely functional, preferably multi-functional. Here are some of the iPhone accessories that I have used that fit these categories.

Clicks Keyboard case: Surprisingly great or gimmicky gadget? [Hands on review]

Earlier this year, Clicks announced their Clicks Keyboard case for the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. They wanted to bring back the tactility of a physical keyboard to the modern smartphone. As someone who loved using Blackberry Pearl and Bold and the T-Mobile Sidekick back in the day, I was immediately intrigued. But I also had a lot of questions, like: Will the total package be too big? Will it drain my iPhone battery? Is it a true daily product or more of a nostalgic gimmick? To my surprise, the Clicks Case was actually awesome for many reasons. But also has room for improvement. Here is my Clicks Keyboard Case for iPhone review.

iPhone 15 Pro videographers must have this tiny SSD with a status screen and camera rig

The new USB-C port on the iPhone 15 has opened up a whole universe of different accessories that can now be used, like USB-C hubs, universal chargers, universal dongles but most importantly (to me), the ability to use SSDs with your iPhone. Even though you can use everything with any of the iPhone 15s, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are the ones that have USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds, allowing for up to 10 Gbit transfer speeds. For us creatives, that unlocks a lot of functionality. Combining this new functionality with enhancements to SSDs, you now have a full studio in your pocket. I might have found that perfect SSD companion in the new Dockcase Pocket NVMe SSD – Photography Edition.

Hands-on: Aulumu’s unique Cyberpunk-like take on iPhone accessories

Last month, I was scrolling through X, and I came across an iPhone 15 case by the brand Aulumu. It immediately caught my eye, and I started to look into this brand a bit more. They had an extremely unique look and aesthetic. It looked like their accessories belonged in the Cyberpunk video game, but it was still minimalistic enough that I liked it. I tend to gravitate towards the ultraminimal when it comes to accessories, but Aulumu was able to add a few pieces to its designs that gave it some character without it being overwhelming. I saw they had a whole slew of iPhone accessories, so I had to pick them up and see if they lived up to my new high expectations – wow, was I surprised. Let me show you what I mean.

Hands-on: ‘AirCard’ puts Apple’s Find My tech into an NFC-enabled digital business card

Since Apple released the AirTag, companies have been flying to create cases, lanyards, keychains, and so many other accessories. For the most part, these accessories work. I have one on my luggage, one on my dog’s collar, and another on my keychain, but there has been one solution missing: the wallet tracker. The biggest issue, at least for me, is that the AirTag is thick compared to credit cards, so when you put it in your wallet, there is a huge and ugly bulge.

Review: Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7NC, a notable step up in build quality and audio fidelity

Site default logo image

If you read our review of the ATH-M50x closed-back headphones, I made it pretty clear that I was a fan of what Audio-Technica was offering. The ATH-M50x’s are well-known for giving Beats By Dre headphones a run for their money, and at a much more affordable price.

I also had the opportunity to go hands-on with one of Audio-Technica’s newest offerings, the ATH-MSR7NC. These noise-cancelling cans differ in many ways from the company’s mainstream offering, and at more than double the price of the M50x’s, venture into more premium territory. Should you consider them?

Mini-review: These simple iMac-style iPhone stands are both cute, but one wins out for me

If you’re going to leave an iPhone in a dock all night to charge, or on your desk all day at work, you’ll want a powered one. Options there include Apple’s own dock, Belkin’s Charge Dock and Enblue’s Premium One.

But if you are constantly picking up and putting down your iPhone in the course of the day, sometimes a simple unpowered stand can be more convenient. I tried a couple of iMac-style stands supplied by MobileFun: the Elago M2, left, and Spigen S310, right.

Both are very similar in overall form-factor. An aluminum body with iMac-style foot, two prongs at the front to hold the phone in place, padding to cushion the phone against the stand and cutouts at the rear in case you do want to run a Lightning cable through to it. The obvious visual difference between the two is that the Spigen has a black rubber coating at the front …

BodyGuardz uses an aluminum bezel to tackle the iPhone 6 screen protector problem

The gently curved glass edges of the iPhone 6/Plus screens feel absolutely luxurious but are a nightmare for screen protector companies. Compounding this issue is the fact that rigid tempered glass is now the preferred material for iPhone screen protection.

Some companies have taken a stab at solving this issue, but at CES we were able to go hands-on with BodyGuardz’s upcoming solution.

“The Crown” combines BodyGuardz’s Pure tempered glass screen protector with a finely crafted anodized aluminum rim. The glass protects the entire flat surface of an iPhone 6/Plus screen, while the thin aluminum bezel covers its curved edges. During our brief demonstration we were impressed with how both of these pieces came together to create a seamless solution.

The aluminum material will come in different colors when it’s released next month including gold, silver, and black. The iPhone 6 version is slated to cost $34.95, with the bigger iPhone 6 Plus version coming in at $5 more.
